Vattenfall and Royal Vopak Progress Battery Storage Capacity Near Meeden

A report published on 21 October described an arrangement under which Vattenfall would access 100 MW/400 MWh of capacity in Royal Vopak’s planned battery-storage project near Meeden, Groningen. The full system is designed for 150 MW with four-hour storage, and commercial operations are expected in the second quarter of 2028. The financial value of the agreement was not disclosed. Energy developers can explore grid-balancing simulations, battery-performance monitoring and electricity-demand forecasting; HPC can provide engineering and computing support through a quotation based on the project’s technical scope.
